Thames Water 'sorry' for Swindon sewage clean-up delay

  • Published

Thames Water has apologised for a slow response after raw sewage flooded into gardens in Swindon at the weekend.

A blocked pipe caused sewage to overflow from manholes and drains in Castle Dore in Freshbrook on Friday evening.

However, the water company's clean-up operation did not start until the following afternoon.

"A quicker response would have definitely have been nicer", said resident Jennifer Jones.

"The whole garden was completely under water and it wasn't nice at all."

Thames Water said an investigation into the incident will be carried out.
