High winds and fallen trees close roads in Wiltshire

Strong winds and heavy rain have led to traffic delays and power cuts in parts of Wiltshire.

Winds of up to 60mph were recorded. Wiltshire Council said it had received reports of 25 fallen trees, most of which had been dealt with.

Southern Electric said engineers had been called out to fix several power outages around the county.

The National Trust closed the garden at Stourhead near Warminster because of safety concerns due to high winds.

The trust's Lacock Abbey and Fox Talbot Museum near Chippenham were also closed because of a power failure which also affected the village.

Earlier a fallen tree near to Swindon railway station meant the drop-off area on Station Road was closed.

Another tree fell on the A342 between Devizes and Chippenham at the bottom of Dunkirk Hill, forcing the road to be shut.

The B3105 was also closed near to the Nestle factory in Staverton, near Trowbridge.
