Soldiers based at an army barracks in Wiltshire have received operational medals after serving in Afghanistan.

The soldiers from Four Close Support Battalion, Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers have recently returned from a six-month tour.

The medals were awarded at Jellalabad Barracks in Tidworth for the role they played in Operation Herrick.

During their deployment, a soldier attached to the battalion died at Camp Bastion in Helmand Province.

Sgt Jonathan Eric Kups, who was 38 and from Nuneaton, Warwickshire, died at the military base in southern Afghanistan last month.

An electronics technician based in Tidworth, his death is believed to have been the result of a non-battle related injury.
