A man who died after the light aircraft he was in crashed near an airfield in Wiltshire has been named as RAF test pilot Alexandre Jay Parr.

He died at the scene after the plane came down in a field close to Dinton, near Salisbury, at about 10:50 BST.

Mr Parr, 40, lived in Marlborough and was married with three children. He worked at the Empire Test Pilots School at nearby Boscombe Down.

An MoD spokesman would not confirm if Mr Parr was piloting the aircraft.

The spokesman added that the crash was "a tragedy" and said Mr Parr would be "missed by many".
