A man who died after being seriously assaulted in Wiltshire on Sunday has been named by police as Jordan Taylor.

The 25-year-old, from Hilperton, Trowbridge, died after he and a friend were attacked by a third man near Trowbridge Community Hospital.

Wiltshire Police said a post-mortem investigation revealed he had died of stab injuries

The force has launched a murder inquiry and set up a major incident room at Trowbridge Police Station.

Det Ch Insp Jeremy Carter said he was "convinced" the answers to this case "lie in the local community".

"Irrespective of how small you may think it is, if you heard or saw anything that struck you as strange - please come forward," he said.

The victims were treated for their injuries in the car park of the hospital. Mr Taylor died at the scene and his friend suffered minor injuries.

He is currently helping officers with their investigation, but has not been arrested.

Nearby Timbrell St and Prospect Place remain closed while a forensic investigation is carried out.

Police said their thoughts were with Mr Taylor's family "at this difficult time".
