A man has died and two others have been injured in a crash between a lorry and a car on the M4 in Wiltshire.

The accident westbound happened at about 05:00 BST near junction 17 at Leigh Delamere.

The victim was travelling in a Nissan Qashqai and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The road was shut at the junction's slip road for 11 hours, causing long tailbacks. Drivers were diverted along the A350.

Wiltshire Police said formal identification had not yet taken place and their "thoughts are with his family at this time."

The two other men received injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.

The road was closed westbound at junction 17 to allow for a full collision investigation to take place.

It has since reopened.
