Crews battle Tidworth office block fire
- Published
Crews from 20 fire engines have dealt with a "significant" property fire.
It started at a commercial site in Tidworth at about 09:45 BST.
People were advised to avoid the Jagdalik Road area, where the building - a stable block used for offices and storage - was burning.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said the roof of the property was well alight when crews arrived and that as of 16:00 BST the firefighting operation had been scaled back.
It said five crews and an aerial ladder platform remained on site.
"Crews will be on scene for a number of hours cooling hotspots, and one appliance is likely to remain on scene overnight to monitor for flare ups," a spokesperson said.
"The cause will be under investigation for some time."
At the peak of the fire, two crews from Salisbury and others from Pewsey, Marlborough, Chippenham, Stratton, Devizes, Royal Wootton Bassett and Warminster were at the scene.
They were joined by Hampshire firefighters from Andover, Basingstoke, Winchester and Eastleigh.
