Swindon man arrested after suspected firearm report

Armed police went to the scene on Friday morning

A man has been arrested after a report of someone having a suspected firearm.

Wiltshire Police said officers were called to Burns Way, Upper Stratton, Swindon, at around 08:40 BST on Friday.

The police helicopter and armed police were deployed and man in his 40s was later arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

The force said there were no reported injuries and the arrested man remains in police custody.

The road remains closed to allow officers to examine the scene.
