Call for memorial after beloved Swindon cat Bob dies

A beloved cat who was well-known for regularly visiting local shops and restaurants has died at the age of 20.
Bob the tabby, who had a Facebook page dedicated to his exploits in Taw Hill, Swindon, was rescued as a stray by owner Claire Edwards.
She said she was "deeply saddened" to share the news of his death, and has set up a fundraiser for a memorial.
Haydon Wick Parish Council will discuss planning permission for a memorial in their next meeting.
Ms Edwards wrote on the Bob Life Facebook page over the weekend: "I am deeply saddened to share the news that we lost our beautiful Bob today."
"We are incredibly upset but also know that there will be many people who took Bob to their hearts that will also miss him greatly.
"I would like to thank everyone, who over the years, have cared and loved Bob and have looked after him and for all of your comments, messages and photos.
"Fly high Bobby," she added.
The tabby had gained more than 3,000 followers online and had even been honoured with a replica knitted post-box topper near one of his favourite spots.
He had become a regular fixture at a host of businesses including Dominos, the Taw Hill Village Centre, the pharmacy, and the Prospect Hospice charity shop.
Ms Edwards told BBC Radio Wiltshire she rescued Bob as a stray 11 years ago, after his original owners "just moved away and left him".
The £250 JustGiving target for a memorial was quickly surpassed, and the total currently stands at £2,323. Organisers hope to install a plaque, bench, or statue dedicated to Bob.
Ms Edwards said: "I went down yesterday to look at all the flowers that people have left.
"It's just so strange with him not there.
"I think having something there to represent him would be meaningful for people."
