M4 crash: Man dies in crash near Swindon

A man in his 50s has died following a crash on a stretch of the M4 motorway in Wiltshire.

It happened on the eastbound carriageway at around 18:30 GMT on Saturday.

The road was closed overnight in both directions between junction 16 for Royal Wootton Bassett and 15 for Swindon, but has since reopened.

Officers said the man's next of kin had been informed and their thoughts are with them"at this difficult time".

The force said it was continuing to investigate "to ascertain the facts surrounding this incident".
