Swindon: Man stabbed by suspect wearing balaclava

A man has been stabbed in a busy street by a person wearing a balaclava.

Wiltshire Police said the incident happened on Manchester Road in Swindon just before 18:00 GMT on Friday.

A man, who is in his 30s, was taken to hospital with a wound to his abdomen, which is not through to be life changing or life threatening.

DS Matt Gamble: "We would like to thank staff in a local take away premises and an ex-soldier who helped the victim."

He added it "was a serious incident in a busy area" and the suspect was reported to be wearing a balaclava.

A cordon, put up while police carried out investigations, has since been lifted.
