Man jailed after 'high risk' Salisbury police chase

A driver who led police on a "high risk" chase, running red lights and taking a roundabout the wrong way, has been jailed.
Ricky Lee Langford also hit kerbs on what Wiltshire Police described as a "dangerous" pursuit through Salisbury.
When he eventually stopped, Langford, 35, tried to escape on foot but was not able to get over a high hedge.
He was jailed for six months and disqualified from driving for four years.
The chase began when a traffic officer in Salisbury saw an Audi A3 driven by Langford, from Rotherham, with what appeared to be cloned plates on 24 August, 2023.
The officer attempted to stop the vehicle but Langford drove off, ignoring red traffic lights and driving erratically.
He eventually stopped on a country lane and tried to escape on foot but could not get over a high hedge and was arrested.
After his arrest, officers discovered Langford was wanted in South Yorkshire on recall to prison.
PC Ben Greening from Wiltshire Police, said: "At one point during the pursuit, Langford went round a right-hand bend on a national speed limit road contravening solid white lines, making this a high-risk pursuit.
"He showed absolutely no regard for other road users and only stopped the vehicle when he did because he lost control and crashed into a hedge.
"The risks he took were extremely dangerous and it is fortunate that nobody was injured or worse, killed, as a result of his mindless and selfish actions."
Langford was sentenced at Salisbury Magistrates Court on 19 January after pleading guilty to failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, failing to provide a specimen for analysis and driving without a licence and insurance
