A drunk driver who was spotted "swerving all over the road" has lost his licence after being reported to police by a member of the public.

Ion Tintiuc was seen driving erratically on the M4 and entering Swindon on 17 March in the early hours.

He was recorded as being over the drink drive limit and was arrested and charged when officers later visited his home in Homington Avenue, Swindon.

He pleaded guilty to a drink driving offence on Tuesday.

As well as being disqualified from driving for 12 months, Tintiuc was fined £300 by Swindon magistrates and was required to pay a victim surcharge of £120 and court costs of £85. Luke Hobbs, a roads policing officer for Wiltshire Police, said the case showed "the importance of information and intelligence from members of the public"."There can never be any excuse for drink driving."If you have been out drinking, always find a safe way to get home."
