Wiltshire Council's chief executive has announced his departure from the council after 13 years in post.

Terence Herbert has accepted a new post of chief executive of Surrey County Council, starting in the summer.

He joined Wiltshire Council in 2011 and was appointed chief executive in June 2020.

Mr Herbert said he is delighted with his new role and is looking forward to work with Surrey County Council.

"Having spent much of my earlier career in children's services and mental health, I am passionate about delivering quality services for the most vulnerable residents across our communities," he added.

Councillor Richard Clewer, Leader of Wiltshire Council, said: "We will be very sorry to see him go but he brings a wealth of experience, and I am sure he will be an asset to Surrey."
