York city council asks people's help in budget plan

People in York have been urged to have their say on how the council should make £14m cuts over the next financial year.

City of York Council has asked residents to use an online simulator to consider where the cuts should fall as part of their budget consultation.

The authority said their views would help it understand which services were more important.

People have until the end of Tuesday to complete the survey.

The council has already said up to 650 jobs are to be axed over the next six years as it aims to save £50m in line with the government's Spending Review.
