Views collated on Selby traveller site plan

Hundreds of people have had their say on plans for a new travellers' site in North Yorkshire.

The proposed scheme would see a 10-pitch site developed in Selby district.

The council said it would launch another consultation once it had decided on the possible locations for the site.

A spokesman said there were a number of steps in the process still to be completed and it would take about 18 months to identify the possible sites.

"As the consultation has now finished we'll be reviewing all of the comments we received," the spokesman added.

"It's generated a lot of local interest, which is good because that means we can ensure the document reflects the needs and aspirations of local people".

The council said it estimated it had received about 1,500 responses.
