North Yorkshire chief constable job re-advertised

North Yorkshire's police and crime commissioner has said she hopes to have found a new chief constable for the force by mid-April.

The appointment was delayed after interviews last month failed to find a suitable candidate.

Julia Mulligan has now re-advertised the post and a selection process will take place on 16 April.

Temporary Chief Constable Tim Madgwick has been in charge of the force since Grahame Maxwell retired in May.

Ms Mulligan said: "I didn't make an appointment last month as I wanted to be absolutely sure that I had the best possible choice of candidates for this vital role and I am convinced that this will be the case this time around."
