North Yorkshire Police arrest 17 in drink-driving crackdown

A crackdown on drink-driving has led to 17 arrests in its first week, North Yorkshire Police said.

A spokesman said so far 11 people had been charged and five arrests were the result of information passed on from the public.

The force's campaign urges people to "dob in a drink driver, external or grass on a drug driver".

Sgt Pete Stringer said: "Responsible members of the public are telling us who [drink and drug drivers] are."
