Two fishermen who were found dead on a boat moored in Whitby harbour have been named by North Yorkshire Police.

Mark Arries, 26, was from Blyth, Northumberland and Edward Ide, 21, was from Amble, also in Northumberland.

The men were discovered in a vessel moored off Pier Road on Wednesday morning. They were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said their deaths were "unexplained but not suspicious".

No inquest date has yet been set, the force added.

The Health and Safety Executive and the Marine Accident Investigation Branch have both been informed of the men's deaths.
