Missing Ben Clarkson: Police release CCTV

Ben Clarkson was last seen in the early hours of Sunday 2 March in York

Police have issued CCTV of two men they want to trace in the search for a 22-year-old man who disappeared after a night out in York.

Ben Clarkson, originally from Leeds, was last seen outside Fibbers Nightclub on Stonebow a 03:40 GMT on 2 March.

Extensive police searches of the River Foss have failed to locate him.

North Yorkshire Police issued CCTV of two men, one of whom spoke to Mr Clarkson in Fibbers, and another seen walking on the same street as him.

The first man is described as white and wearing a light coloured jacket and dark trousers.

He walked along Stonebow towards the junction with Foss Islands Road, on the opposite side of the road to Mr Clarkson.

A short time later, he was seen taking the same route as Mr Clarkson as they walked past National Windscreens in Layerthorpe.

The second man spoke to Mr Clarkson in the smoking area of the club.

He is white, with short dark hair and was wearing a red checked shirt, white T-shirt and dark trousers.

Insp Neil Drummond said: "I am sure the person who walked along Layerthorpe will have seen Ben as he made his way home and will be able to help identify the route he took.

"I also need to speak to the man at Fibbers as although he spoke with Ben, his friends didn't recognise him, and I ask that he gets in touch."

Friends of the missing man have handed out 4,000 leaflets in a bid to find him and launched a Twitter account as part of their efforts.

Mr Clarkson disappeared on the day 20-year-old student Megan Roberts' body was found in the River Ouse near York.

It is believed she had fallen into the river on 23 January while under the influence of alcohol.
