Firefighters have put out a blaze on an electric bus in the centre of York.

The fire started on the Park and Ride service, operated by First, after it broke down on Stonebow at about midday.

No-one was seriously injured in the blaze as passengers had already been taken off the bus before it caught alight.

The road was closed to traffic for about an hour and bus services were delayed

The City of York Council said it had asked First to investigate the incident as a "matter of urgency".
