Man's body pulled from River Foss in York

Police said the man had not yet been identified

A man's body has been pulled from the River Foss in York.

A member of the public called police on Wednesday night, after seeing a man in the water near Merchant Hall in the Piccadilly area.

Underwater searches were carried out and police said a man's body had been recovered.

A North Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said they were not in a position to identify the man and enquiries were ongoing.
