A psychiatric hospital is to reopen after it was closed by a health watchdog inspection.

Bootham Park Hospital, in York, is to hold some outpatient clinics from Monday, the Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust said.

The hospital was closed in September when the Care Quality Commission (CQC) found it was not fit for purpose.

A unit at the hospital for people detained under the mental health act had reopened in December.

Psychology appointments are among those taking place from Monday and other clinics will move back over the coming weeks, said the trust.

Ruth Hill, for the trust, said: "We would like to reassure everyone that we are doing all we can to bring back services to York as quickly as possible."

During the closure patients had to be seen at alternative venues across the city.
