A man has died of suspected stab wounds at a centre for former soldiers.

The 34-year-old was found at The Beacon in Marne Road, Catterick Garrison, at around 23:30 BST on Friday, North Yorkshire Police said.

A 51-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in police custody.

A police spokeswoman said the force was investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and officers continue to work at the scene. The dead man has not been identified.

The Beacon offers supported housing to single veterans "who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and who have support needs", according to its website.
