Leeds to Carlisle trains resume after bull killed

Services are running again after a bull was hit and killed on a track near Ribblehead in the Yorkshire Dales.

Northern services between Leeds and Carlisle were suspended for four hours.

Many trains were cancelled and delayed as a result of the incident, which happened at about 09:15 BST on Friday.

Tony Baxter, regional director for Northern, said: "I'd like to thank our customers for their patience and understanding whilst we dealt with the incident."

The train involved suffered "significant damage".
