York A64 crash: Man dies in two-vehicle collision

A man has died in a crash involving two vehicles near York.

The collision happened on the A64 westbound near to the junction with the A19 at Fulford at about 08:00 GMT.

North Yorkshire Police said the driver of a black Hyundai i10, a man in his late 30s, died when the car collided with a blue Ford Transit van.

The force said the driver of the van, a man in his 50s, is receiving treatment for shock. No-one else was injured in the collision.

Part of the A64 was shut for several hours following the crash.

Officers investigating the collision have appealed for witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident.

A force spokesperson said: "A significant number of vehicles had to take avoiding action but did not stop or contact the emergency services. We need to hear from them too."
