Northallerton: HGV driver dies in A19 southbound crash

A lorry driver has died in a crash on the A19 in North Yorkshire, near Northallerton.
Police said the heavy goods vehicle crashed off the southbound side of the carriageway, near the Osmotherley junction, at about 10:30 GMT on Wednesday.
The driver was pronounced dead at the scene an hour later and his family is being contacted by officers.
A stretch of the southbound carriageway was closed and reopened at about 19:40.
The northbound route was also closed until 12:25 while mattresses and other debris were cleared from the road after a skip wagon shed its load, National Highways said.
North Yorkshire Police has appealed for witnesses and motorists with dashcam footage of the scene to come forward.
