Ripon woman denies sexually assaulting boy aged under 13

Denise Povall pleaded not guilty to eight charges at York Crown Court

A woman is to stand trial accused of sexually abusing a boy aged under 13.

Denise Povall, 61, of Bondgate Green Lane, Ripon, pleaded not guilty at York Crown Court on Friday to sexual assault of a child and seven counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.

The offences are alleged to have taken place between 2007 and 2008 when the boy was aged either 11 or 12.

Ms Povall was bailed until a trial which is due to begin on 3 June 2024.
