Scarborough county lines drug dealer jailed for five years

A county lines drug dealer has been jailed for five years for selling heroin and cocaine in Scarborough.

George Blair was arrested in the town along with a 16-year-old boy in June.

Officers followed the pair from the Middlesbrough area before apprehending them in a restaurant where the youth tried to dispose of the drugs.

Blair, 22, of no fixed address, was sentenced at York Crown Court after he admitted possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply.

North Yorkshire Police said Blair had been linked to a "deal line" used to sell drugs in the seaside town.

When he and the boy were stopped at McDonald's, in Huntriss Row, the force said the boy ran off to try and get rid of the drugs.

A force spokesperson said: "[He] ran to the toilets and disposed of a package containing heroin and crack cocaine over the top of a toilet cubicle.

"Unfortunately for some, the cubicle was occupied at the time by a member of the public who was rudely interrupted whilst spending a penny or two."

Officers later recovered the package which contained 53 individual wraps of crack cocaine and 40 wraps of heroin.

PC Jessie Landers from the Operation Expedite team, which targets drug crime in the area, said she was pleased Blair had received "a significant custodial sentence".

"We hope he now reflects on his criminal lifestyle and is willing to change his ways with support from the HM Prison Service and the Probation Service," she said.

"As evidenced in this case, we're listening, watching, waiting and ready to pounce on drug-dealers like Blair who think they can operate freely in our area.

"It is abundantly clear that it will lead you to one place, and one place only, prison."

The force said the youth remains under investigation.
