Police looking for a 31-year-old man from York who has been missing for several days have begun searching the River Ouse in the city.

Seth Martin was last seen at his home in Clifton at about 09:00 GMT on Saturday, North Yorkshire Police said.

His family and friends had been unable to contact him and police said they were growing increasingly concerned.

Officers began searching the Ouse after reports of a person in the water on Saturday afternoon, the force said.

Mr Martin is described as 6ft 2in (1.9m) tall, of slim build, with a tanned complexion, brown hair, a moustache and several tattoos, including one saying "Queen Mother" in Spanish on his left wrist.

He was last seen wearing blue pyjama bottoms and a striped top, but he may have changed clothes, officers said.

Anyone who may have seen him, or who had information about his whereabouts, was asked to contact police immediately on 101.
