A man who raped and assaulted a girl during "sickening" attacks has been jailed for more than 14 years.
Brian Michael Carr, 79, of Danby in the North York Moors, pleaded guilty to rape and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity on 25 January.
He also pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual assault against the same victim.
On Friday at York Crown Court, Carr was sentenced to 14 years and four months in prison.
Carr was also told he must serve a further 12 months on licence.
"This has been a very distressing case for the victim who has been dealing with the consequences of Carr's sickening abuse for years," said Det Con Angela Martindale from North Yorkshire Police.
"Carr's conviction and imprisonment are a testimony to the bravery and courage shown by the victim who, by reporting this matter to the police, was trying to protect other children in addition to dealing with her own trauma."
