The week of police action in North Yorkshire saw Class A and Class B drugs confiscated and 13 people arrested

Illegal drugs and weapons have been seized in a police operation targeting county lines gangs in North Yorkshire.

Thirteen people were arrested during a week-long operation between 4-10 March, police said.

The raids saw Class A and Class B drugs confiscated, along with a machete, a crossbow and a throwing knife.

Det Ch Insp Andrew Simpson said he was "proud" of the campaign, adding the force would continue to be "relentless" in its pursuit of drug gangs.

County lines is the term used to describe drug-dealing networks connecting urban and rural areas, using phone lines, across the UK.

Those behind the networks often exploit children or vulnerable people.

During the operation, targeted patrols were conducted at Scarborough railway station "to intercept drugs which are run via the transport network".
