Malton: Man held after woman recovered from River Derwent

A man has been arrested in connection with the death of a woman who was pulled out of a river in North Yorkshire on Wednesday.
Police said they received reports at about 23:40 BST of a woman in the River Derwent at Malton.
Members of the public and police officers helped her out of the river and she was taken to hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The arrested man, in his 40s, was known to the woman and remained in custody.
A force spokesperson said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
"There is a significant police presence in Malton as we investigate this incident," they added.
"We understand members of the public may be upset or concerned about what has happened and our Neighbourhood Policing Team will be in the town to offer them reassurance."
