Thirsk man jailed for biting nose at Heck sausage and beer festival

A man who admitted biting another man's nose at a sausage and beer festival in North Yorkshire has been jailed.

Bruce Lindsey, 53, of Pickhill, near Thirsk, was sentenced to 12 months at York Crown Court on Tuesday.

He previously pleaded guilty at York Magistrates' Court on 18 April to assault occasioning actual body harm.

The court heard the pair had been fighting at sausage brand Heck's Oktoberfest beer festival last year and Lindsey bit Stuart McLoughlin's nose.

Mr McLoughlin later needed hospital treatment.

The annual festival is held on the grounds of the company's headquarters near Bedale and guests can sample Bratwurst sausages while drinking German beer.
