Scarborough: Man jailed over £250,000 cannabis farm
- Published
A man has been jailed after police discovered him in a 200-plant cannabis farm in Scarborough.
Nezir Furrika, 31, was in the property on High Street, Eastfield, when police raided it on 20 April after reports of a strong smell and suspicious wiring.
He admitted producing cannabis when he appeared at York Magistrates' Court.
Furrika was jailed for three months at a hearing on 17 May, with police later saying they believed the farm to be worth about £250,000.
The court also ordered that all the seized plants and equipment be destroyed.
Sgt Jon Dillon, of North Yorkshire Police, said: "We were able to take swift action in this case as a direct result of information provided to us by a member of the public.
"We're extremely grateful to them, and to everyone who comes forward with information."
