Anna Lo has been selected by the Alliance Party to stand in the next assembly election in the South Belfast constituency.

Ms Lo became the first Chinese-born person to be elected to a legislative parliament in Europe when she was elected to the assembly seat in March 2007.

She is a member of the Social Development and Regional Development Assembly Committees.

Welcoming her selection she said MLA's had to be focused on their work in the assembly.

"It is totally incompatible to be both an MLA and an MP," she said.
