Police want to hear from anyone who saw a poster being put up in Crossmaglen, County Armagh, after a man suffered serious injuries in an explosion.
Francis McCabe Jr was hurt by a booby-trap bomb that exploded in his face at 05:15 GMT on Wednesday. There are concerns that he could lose an eye.
It has been reported that he was trying to remove the poster from a lamp post.
It is thought the poster claimed that a second individual was a security forces informer, or "tout".
The Irish News reported on Friday that Mr McCabe's family are at his bedside, external in the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, where his condition is stable.
The newspaper states that Mr McCabe had been on his way to work when he stopped to take down the poster on Corliss Road.
His family said they had been "on the receiving end of death threats for standing up in support of neighbours" before the attack.
Police said they were keen to hear from anyone who noticed any activity on Blaney Road between Tuesday evening, 24 February and Wednesday morning.
They said they were "particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed a poster being erected in the area".
