PSNI's Assistant Chief Constable Will Kerr settles job discrimination case

A senior officer in the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) who missed out on a top job in the force has settled an alleged discrimination case.
Assistant Chief Constable Will Kerr missed out on becoming deputy chief constable last year, with Drew Harris instead being appointed.
ACC Kerr's employment tribunal against the Northern Ireland Policing Board was due to be heard next week.
But a spokeswoman for the board said on Friday the case had been closed.
The Policing Board is responsible for the appointment and dismissal of senior officers in the PSNI.
"The Northern Ireland Policing Board and Mr Kerr have settled the case between them on mutually acceptable terms and as such the claim shall not proceed to a hearing next week," the spokeswoman said.
ACC Kerr is now responsible for the PSNI's crime operations department, covering organised crime, special operations and major investigations.
