The Historical Institutional Abuse (HIA) inquiry panel is examining the allegations

An inquiry is trying to trace a former Barnardo's worker who is facing serious abuse allegations.

The Historical Institutional Abuse (HIA) heard that the man is one of a number of people who used to work for Barnardo's.

They are also accused of sexually abusing children at the charity's former home at Macedon in Co Antrim.

One former resident has alleged he was victim to "graphic" abuse by former Barnardo's staff and his own father. 01

He described two of the charity's staff at Macedon as "evil."

One of them is the person the inquiry is trying to trace.

Inquiry counsel Mr Joseph Aiken said that the witness "fits into a complex picture that involves various other individuals."

It was also revealed that Barnardo's paid the former child resident £15,000 in a civil claim in 2003.

The hearing was also told that the witness has "a significant criminal record, including for sexual offences".

He is also the subject of allegations of abuse.

It's also emerged that another former Barnardo's care worker at Macedon, who was also accused of serious sex abuse, is now dead.
