Lurgan: PSNI investigating suspected dissident republican attack

Police in Lurgan have said they believe an explosive device found in the County Armagh town was planted by dissident republicans.

They said the device was discovered in the Silverwood Industrial Estate on Tuesday evening.

Det Supt Sean Wright said: "The device has been made safe and it is fortunate that no one was hurt."

The Justice Minister Naomi Long said "a potentially serious incident has been averted".

"Those responsible for leaving this explosive device in the Silverwood Industrial Estate have no regard for human life and are motivated by a need to create fear and disruption in our community," she added.

Further investigations are being carried out by detectives.
