'Heartbreaking'

Mervyn Storey, a DUP MLA for North Antrim, said: "When something like this happens it has that impact on the community because of the sadness of the circumstances and the devastation."

SDLP councillor Margaret Anne McKillop said it was "heartbreaking news" that had left people in Ballycastle devastated.

"I know they will pull together and try to support the bereaved families as best they can," she added.

The Moyarget Road has since reopened to traffic.
