Caoimhe Morgan: Police name woman murdered in north Belfast

Police investigating the murder of a woman in north Belfast have confirmed that the victim was 30-year-old Caoimhe Morgan.

Her body was found in a house in Harcourt Drive on Saturday morning.

A 30-year-old man who was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of Ms Morgan's murder remains in custody.

A post-mortem examination has been ordered to confirm the cause of her death and police have urged anyone with information to contact them.

SDLP Infrastructure Minister Nichola Mallon said the local community was "deeply shocked" to learn of the murder.

"This news is disturbing and I would urge anyone with any information to pass it to the police," said the north Belfast MLA.

Ms Mallon said her thoughts were with Ms Morgan's family and friends at this "extremely distressing time".

Sinn Féin's John Finucane also said his thoughts were with those close to the victim "at this extremely difficult time" and urged anyone with information to contact police.

In a tweet, Women's Aid NI said it was "devastated that another tragedy has happened".
