Saintfield security alert an 'elaborate hoax'

A suspicious object was discovered on Friday morning

Residents have returned to their homes after a suspicious object in County Down was declared to be an elaborate hoax.

Police were called to Rowallane Dale in Saintfield at about 07:47 BST on Friday morning.

Cordons that were put in place have now been lifted and Insp Heatley thanked the community for their patience.

Anyone with information about the incident has been asked to contact police.
