East Belfast: Elderly man dies after being hit by lorry

A man in his 70s has died after he was struck by a lorry in east Belfast.

The pedestrian was hit while walking on the Newtownards Road on Friday morning.

It happened close to Dee Street at about 08:30 GMT.

The road was shut for hours between Templemore Avenue and Albertbridge Road, but has now reopened.

Police have appealed to witnesses or anyone who may have captured footage of the collision to contact them.
