Natalie McNally: More than 1,000 gather at Lurgan rally
- Published
More than 1,000 people have gathered in Lurgan for a rally in memory of Natalie McNally, as police renew their appeal for information into her murder.
The 32-year-old was 15-weeks pregnant when she was stabbed in her home at Silverwood Green on 18 December.
Three arrests have been made but no-one has been charged in connection with the murder.
Police have so far carried out hundreds of house-to-house enquiries and seized more than 4,000 hours of CCTV footage.
The rally, in Lurgan Park, was organised by the National Womens' Council (NWC).
Many people wore pink or blue and carried placards reading: "She was only at home".
Ms McNally's parents were in attendance, as well as her brothers.
Ms McNally's brother Brendan told the crowd: "Violence against women is one of the great scourges of our society.
"Full respect and support is given to the PSNI as they work to give justice to our Natalie."
Homemade videos of Natalie as a child were introduced to the crowd by another brother, Declan.
The montage was put together by Ms McNally's partner.
"Please keep Natalie's partner in your thoughts and prayers," Declan said.
"This is how we want Natalie to be remembered- a beautiful, fun person."
Speaking ahead of the rally, another brother Niall McNally urged people to look at the CCTV footage previously released by the police.
It shows a man entering Silverwood Green at 20:52 GMT on Sunday 18 December and leaving again at 21:30.
One of the organisers of the rally, Rachel Coyle, said: "The rally will show that people have had enough.
"The tide is turning. Violence against women must end."
A number of politicians were also at the rally, including Sinn Féin deputy leader Michelle O'Neill, MLA John O'Dowd as well as the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) MLAs Carla Lockhart and Diane Dodds.
The rally comes as police issued a renewed appeal for information into Ms McNally's murder.
Three arrests have been made but no-one has been charged.
Her father Noel appealed to people to come forward if they knew anything.
"If anyone has the slightest wee bit of information I would say: 'Go to the police'. If they're right that could solve this case," he said.
Police have previously said they believe Ms McNally knew her killer and they had an existing relationship and she felt comfortable inviting them into her home.
Det Ch Insp Neil McGuiness said he was committed to finding answers for Natalie's heartbroken family.
"I would like to pay tribute to the continued fortitude of Natalie's family and thank them for all they are doing to support our investigation," he said.
The charity Crimestoppers has offered a £20,000 reward for information about Ms McNally's killing.
