The Feeny Road was closed from Thursday evening until Friday morning
A road in Dungiven has been reopened to the public after nothing dangerous was found during a security alert.
The Feeny Road was closed from Thursday evening until Friday morning as police attended the incident.
The police said they received a report of a viable device at a residential property but following extensive searches it was declared to be a hoax.
Hoax calls have a significant impact on local residents, Ch Insp Sinead McIldowney said.
"Whilst no houses were evacuated on this occasion, those persons responsible show a complete disregard to the local community and wider area who were inconvenienced by police diversions," she said.
