Belfast city centre: Man charged with Royal Avenue attacks

A 35-year-old man has been charged with two counts of assaulting police officers in Belfast city centre.

Police said two officers were attacked in Royal Avenue at about 14:45 BST on Thursday. One of the officers was kicked in the face.

It happened after police were sent to investigate a report of a man being abusive to passers-by.

The 35-year-old has also been charged with criminal damage, disorderly behaviour and resisting police.
