Brian Coulter: Man admits killing former policeman

A 29-year-old man has admitted killing a former police officer who was found dead in Magherafelt, County Londonderry.

Sebastian Adrian Nowak denied murdering 62-year-old Brian Coulter, but pleaded guilty to manslaughter on Friday.

He also pleaded guilty to assaulting Mr Coulter's sister on 18 October 2021 - the day her brother's body was found in his flat in Sandy Braes.

Nowak, of Colvil Street in Belfast, is due to be sentenced on 4 December.

The Polish national was dressed in grey tracksuit bottoms and flanked by two prison officers in the dock at Belfast Crown Court as he also admitted to assaulting a police officer and obstructing a constable.
