Newry businesses left to count the cost of flooding

Shops and other businesses in the centre of Newry have been damaged by flooding after the city's canal burst its banks.

Police have advised people against entering the area.

It followed heavy rainfall on Monday and Tuesday, with further warnings in place for days later this week across Northern Ireland.

Businessman Brendan Downey said it would have taken an army of people to battle the overnight flooding.

He said there was "no hope" in their efforts to save equipment.
