The man who died in a two-vehicle crash in County Armagh on Tuesday has been named locally as Sidney McIldoon.

The crash, involving a car and a tractor, happened on the Cornascriebe Road between Tandragee and Hamiltonsbawn, shortly after 14:30 GMT.

Mr McIldoon, who was 84, died at the scene.

The Portadown man was a former grand lecturer of the Grand Orange Lodge of Ireland as well as a former prison officer.

Orange Grand Master Edward Stevenson paid tribute to Mr McIldoon on the order's Facebook page: "Sidney was a loyal and true friend and a great champion of the orange cause.

"He leaves a huge legacy, following a life of selfless service to the orange institution."

A female passenger, also in her 80s, was taken to hospital for medical treatment for her injuries after the crash.

Police said on Wednesday that she remains in hospital in a critical condition.
